TOP GUN COMPETITION UPDATE- 11 July 2015

TOP GUN (TG) QUALIFYING COMMENCED TODAY, SATURDAY 11 JULY 2015

Of the 13 players already signed up for this year’s Top Gun Competition, 11 braved todays weather to begin qualifying for the knockout final which will be held on Sunday 25th October 2015.

Each time a registered TG entrant submits a card for an LGC individual event between today and the final qualifying day on Thursday 22 October 2015, his or her card will be converted to a stableford score for the purpose of this competition.  Each players best score will be updated to eventually identify the top 19 stableford scores and hence the 19 Top Gun shootout finalists.

As can be seen from todays winterery results,  there is not much to beat thus far.  I know there were some scores as high as 38 points today by last year’s TG players and 37 points scored by one of the lady’s but alas, neither of them have signed up for TG as yet.  Going on last year’s results, all three could have secured a place in this year’s final, based on the top 19 scores last year ranging from a high of 45 points and as low as 36 points.

I will post the Top Gun Update each weekend identifying the 19 leaders. A full list of all players and their best scores will be dislayed at the Club at the end of each Month.  So don’t leave it until October to join in as you never know when you are going to have that sweet round, and remember, you have to be registered and paid up before playing any qualifying round.

As of Saturday 11 July 2015:

  • 1 – Brian McCorkell 33

Course Update – July 2015

Well winter has well and truly arrived and our trusty Superintendent is off on some well earned time off.  In his absence Denis & Tom will be looking after the course with the assistance of our committed volunteers.

Due to Dylan’s time off, we dont have our usual course update this month.  So instead I thought I’d provide a gallery of images showing the progress of the new cart shed construction and also evidence of the cold snap of weather that we’ve recently had.  Also included in the gallery are some images taken at the end of Summer by one of Josh’s mates, Greg Wilson.

The course is standing up to the wet weather well, and is still very playable.  Just ask the 22 brave souls who clearly have nothing better to do and played last Thursday (2nd July) in torrential rain and hurricane force winds!! haha.

I look forward to catching up with everyone around the club soon.
