2016 Esplanade Hotel Super League Round 1 Results

Hi All,

The first round of the 2016 Esplanade Hotel Super League has been completed, with some excellent team performances being posted despite the wet mid-week weather.

  • Hawks defeated Blues 137 to 134 (even team performance for Hawks with Joe Lowell leading the way with 36, Peter Stivic 37 for Blues)
  • Cats defeated Saints 147 to 122 (even team performance for Cats with Neale Gillin 38 and George Misson 37, Henry Sedelies 33 for Saints)
  • Dogs defeated Pies 146 to 137 (Peter Walsh and Jeff Brewer 39 for Dogs, Andrew Smith 36 for Pies)
  • Tigers defeated Demons 137 to 135 (Rod Brown 36 for Tigers, Peter Hobson 37 for Demons)

Peter Walsh, with 39 Points won the Esplanade Hotel Round 1 Voucher for best player of the round on count back from his fellow team member Jeff Brewer.

The Cats are on top of the ladder after round 1, but this round sees them pitted against another first round winner in the Dogs. Hopefully it is not wet on Wednesday again ladies as only your best stableford score counts, not the number of cups of coffee you consume!

Round 2 sees the high scorers from round 1, the Cats and Dogs, pitted against each other.

2016 Hyland Cup Draw

Hi Guys,

Following the close of entries yesterday, the draw for the 2016 Hyland Cup has been made today (click on Hyland Cup Draw 2016). With only 39 entries there are many players who have a bye in the first round – there are only 7 matches. Just to prove that the draw was not rigged (George Misson supervised it), I am one of those involved in a first round match!

While first round matches are due to be completed by Sunday 15th May, if you are invlolved in a first  round match I urge you to arrange and play your your match ASAP. Also, despite round 2 matches not being due to be completed for 2 months, I encourage those of you who can already play their second round matches to play soon while the weather is good and the course dry.

Once you have played your match, please record the result on the draw sheet posted on the notice board near the office in the clubhouse.

I remind you that the matches are to be played off the BLACK TOMBSTONES  and it is the responsibility of BOTH players to make themselves available as much as possible and to play their match as soon as possible. Also, remember that should the match not be played by the due date, BOTH players are disqualified.

Good luck!

Men’s Pennant Results – Sunday 10th April 2016

Our Division 2 team opened their 2016 campaign at Phillip Island with a comprehensive 7-0 victory against Foster. Played in blustery conditions our guys held the upper hand in most matches early on with only 2 matches being close, one going to the 20th. An excellent start guys, and well done to our new Captain, Tom Sorrell for steering the ship so well.

Our division3 and 4 teams played their 3rd round matches today and both were successful. Div 3 played at home and had a hard-fought 4-3 victory against Woorayl, while Div 4 defeated Welshpool 6-1 at Korumburra.

The Div 3 match was very close, with 3 games decided on the 19th. Good wins were recorded by Ben Ferrari-Mela, Brendan Simon, Bryan Sword and Peter Dowling.

The win by Div 3 places them at the top of the ladder, while our Div 4 team, with 2 wins is also in the mix.  In such a short season for div 2 (they play 4 matches only), their first -up win puts them in a good position also.

Well done guys!
