Today Thursday the 14th September was supposed to be the first Round of the Thursday Championship however this stableford event was postponed due to the wet conditions of the Course which also prevented cart use.
What that means is another lost opportunity to improve on your best stableford score, to qualify for the BJS Insurance Top Gun Shootout in November.
Despite the recent wintery conditions there have been some big moves since my last update and they were from Tyler Marotti (39) closely followed by Denis Wallace (38).
The Top Qualifier’s at the moment are Chris Leaver and Tyler Marotti, both on 39 and the Men’s Captain is desperately hanging on to the 19th qualifying position with 32 points. So now’s as good as time as any to get in and knock off the Men’s Captain, all you need is a lazy 33 points.
See you on the Course and don’t forget to let me know when I’m out of the top 19. This weather doesn’t affect my play, I’m terrible all the time… but I have this saying which I repeat to myself and share with you for next it’s raining ;
In any weather you will see us with a grin
Risking head and shin
If we’re behind then never mind
We’ll fight and fight and win
Many thanks again to BJS Insurance for their continuing support of this event.

The Owen McMicking Plate bubbles along each year underpinned by the Men’s Monthly Medal Nett stroke results, during the period of March to October.
Of those eight (8) stroke rounds, your lowest five (5) scores automatically count towards the final of the Plate, the winner having the lowest aggregate nett stroke score over five (5) best rounds.
The next Monthly Medal to be held on October 14th, will decide the winner of the Owen McMicking Plate for 2017.
If you have already played in 5 Monthly Medals since March 2017, this will be your last chance to improve on your highest nett score. That is to say you will need to score a lower nett score than your current highest score that counts towards your total.
If you have only played in 4 Monthly Medals this will also be you last chance to seal the deal with a blistering round.
Currently Russell Williams is setting the pace with an aggregate score of 366, however, with the best nett round being a 64 since March, anyone could front up and steal the plate.
You can see from the sample of scores below, that it could be anyone’s title if they play to their best…. well almost anyone’s.
See you at the Club house and good golfing.

Tuesday’s 4BBB saw a small field of 34 players start the round in reasonable conditions with the threat of rain. Rain was expected and arrived early in the round although light, it was constant as there was no wind about. By the start of the 2nd nine, the rain was more consistent and greens became water logged, and a large percentage of the field withdrew due to the conditions. However some groups continued on and finished their rounds, finding most greens playable although wet.
Best score of the day went to Wendy Anne Parker and Andy Bassett with a combined score of 58 points (although Wendy Anne had 33 of those points.) For full results click here:
