Stableford – May 2

16 golfers were gloating after completing 18 holes of golf without a drop of rain falling on the course.  The sun even shone for part of the day.

Those who defied the miserable forecast had a top day out.

Greg Ellt won the day with 39 stableford points which included an unbelievable 25 points on the back 9.  Congratulations Greg on a super score.

35 points was the cutoff fro a down the line ball.

Bruce Cathie’s 34 points was also noteworthy after he opened his car boot to find that he had left his clubs behind.  Al Sperling was offered a good price to sell his clubs to Bruce after he registered 34 points.  I believe Al is considering the offer.

Men’s pennant – Final

The Men’s Pennant Finals will be held this Sunday – May 5.  Two of our teams have made the final and we invite you to come along at any time during the final to show your support to our committed and keen players.

Division 3 is playing against Lang Lang at Meeniyan at 9:45 am.

Division 5 is playing against Welshpool at Philip Island also at 9:45 am

The pointy end of the day will be at around 1:30 pm as the 7 groups come to the last few holes of their matches.   Some familiar faces looking on might just be enough to tip the balance in our favour.

Look forward to seeing your there.

Stableford – April 30

On the first competition day with no clubhouse the players enjoyed the temporary outdoor setting whilst reflecting on their good shots.

Trevor Steer thought he had 37 points but closer scrutiny showed he had one better than that.  His 38 points was the best score of the day and thus the $50 club credit winner.

A grade was won by Geoff McDonald (35 points) beating several other A grade players on a countback.

Peter Horman was the hero of C grade with a very tidy 36 points.

Geoff Maher was the hard luck story of the day with his impressive 37 points earning him a solitary golf ball

Down the Line balls and Nearest the Pin prizes can be collected when we move back into our newly improved clubhouse.   Click right here to see if you have snuck in for a ball.

Men’s Pennant Wrap – Round 6

The last round of pennant was played on Sunday.  Our Division 3 team and our Division 5 team have both qualified for Sunday’s final.

Our Division 1 team put up a great fight but got pipped 4 matches to 3 by Philip Island at Philip Island to narrowly miss a berth in the final.  Congratulations, though, to the team for representing the Club proudly and playing some excellent golf in a tough season.  Special thanks to Captain Tom Sorrell for his tireless work in making sure we fielded a strong team each week.

Division 3 will play against Lang Lang at Meeniyan this Sunday starting at 9:45.   Spectators welcome to make the trip to Menniyan  to cheer the team home.  After clobbering Meeniyan by 6 matches to 1 at Meeniyan this week the team ended the season on top of the ladder and will be hoping  to take their good form into the final.

Division 5 won all  6 of the regular season matches to be the only team across the six divisions to go through the year undefeated.  They come up against the strong Welshpool team at Philip Island in Sunday’s final starting at 9:45.  All members who want to see the stars of 2019 pennant in action are welcome to make the trip to the Island.

Good luck to both teams.
