Thursday Stableford 17th October

A field of 53 hardy golfers braved the elements in today’s stableford competition. Resident Pro Tyler Marotti handled the conditions best to take out A-grade & overall honours with an outstanding 40 points. In-form golfer Frank Gill fared best in B-grade with 37 points; while Jim Arnott played very good golf to score 38 points & take C-grade honours.

Round 2 Women’s Championship October 16th

Thirty women competed in the 2nd round of the Club Championships.

Leading A Grade is Rebecca Thomas. B Grade leader is Trish Owen and Coral Gray has retained her lead in the C Grade field.

The winner of A Grade is Trish Owen with 74 nett. Marea Maher won B Grade with 74 nett and Libby Seebeck won C Grade with 77 nett.

Jennifer Fraser won the 9 hole competition with 18 points.

Tuesday Stableford October 15th

With a lot of golf competitions around in recent days, we had a modest field of 48 players for the Tuesday Stableford.

Continuing his great form leading into the Club Championships, Chis Leaver took out today’s comp on countback with 39 points. Garry Friend also in good form scored 39 points to win B Grade.

First round Club Championships and Monthly Medal

Today’s event contested by 31 entrants. Weather was kind. Monthly medal and A grade winner was Jocelyn Howson with 74 nett, on a countback from Liz Hodge. B grade winner was Marea Maher with 78 nett and C grade was won by Bronwyn Debenham with 81 nett.  B grade scratch was won by Pat Pease with 104.

Club Championship leader so far is Liz Hodge with 87. B grade leader is Jocelyn Howson with 98 and C grade leader is Coral Gray with 118.

There were 8 players in the 9 hole competition which was won by Jennifer Fraser with 19 points on a countback from Chris Lay.

37th year of the Gordon West 9 Hole Sunday Competition opens.

On a beautiful sunny first Sunday of the month of October, a good field were welcomed to the 37th annual Gordon West competition by life member Mrs Pat West.  All players play off the yellow tees on the back 9 of our Leongatha Course.  Players of any level are welcome to come along and join in on this event, on the first Sunday of the summer months.  Players not already in a team will be allocated to a team for the day, no need to book, just turn up between 7.30-9.00am.  Members and visitors alike are welcome to join in on this event for the day, for a  $5.00 comp. fee.  Photo shows Pat West, Trevor Seebeck and Ian Danks hard at work tallying up the scores on the opening day.

Today was also the 8th and final round of the Owen McMicking Plate where players best five scores from the 8 medals held from March to October.  This event rewards the player who has consistently performed best when the course is at its toughest.

Congratulations to Chris Leaver on a very fine win with a string of excellent scores.

Stableford – Thursday, October 3

The greens were slick and the early heatwave took the filed by surprise today.

Brad Hines had a great day out though posting the day’s best score of 38 stableford points to easily win today’s event.  Brad added to his prize pool when he won nearest the pin on the 14th with a shot to 0.38m to win a sleeve of golf balls and a fabulous Nishent Driver.  Brad will be smacking ’em even longer and straighter from now on.

Ross McRobert won A grade with 35 points pipping Martin Edney on a countback.

Bruce Christison won B grade with an impressive 36 points and

The elder Nick Lafferty bobbed up in C grade with 32 points to head off Ian Blencowe on a countback.

Wendy Parker hit a beauty to 1.45m on 16 to claim nearest the pin there.
