Golf Victoria 2016 Leongatha Senior Amatuer Event

The Leongatha Senior Amateur will be held on Monday 16th of May & Tuesday 17th of May.  This event is open to all 55 and over players.

This is the 3rd year of running this event and many visiting players as well as our own Members have enjoyed some healthy competition during this time.  The men contest 36 holes of stroke with both gross and nett competitions.  The ladies contest 36 holes of stableford, again with both gross and nett competitions.

Please note that the visiting player fee is $90 for the two days which includes lunch both days.  The Leongatha Member fee is $60 also including lunch.  Excellent prizes are on offer.  Please make your entries with Golf Victoria via the following link – http://www.golfvic.org.au/eventdisplay/9847

The closing date (Saturday 9th April) for entries in the 2016 Hyland Cup, the prestigious men’s singles matchplay knockout Board event is fast approaching. As yet we do not have many names down on the entry sheet in the clubhouse, so I take this opportunity to remind you to get your name down this week. 

Being a matchplay event, both high and low handicappers have good opportunity to win this event. Entry to this event is FREE, and you have got to be in it to win it!

If you are not going to be at the clubhouse before Saturday and want to enter, please ring the club on 5664 3314 and get Josh or his staff to put your name down.

DIV 3 & DIV 4 RESULTS: WINS FOR LGC TEAMS

With Div.2  not due to commence until next Sunday 10th April the focus was on Div 3 and  Div 4 teams this weekend.

Our LGC Div.3  team played at Meeniyan against the home team and gave a total of 61 strokes to their opponents. Hard fought wins went to Leroy Sharrock (2 up), Rod Mackenzie (4-2), Tom Sorrell (4-3) and Brendan Simon (4-3) to secure an overall win for the Div. 3 Team.  Captain Chris Indian, Brian Sword and Matt Bowey lost their battle to overhaul the shots given.

 LGC hosted all Div. 4 teams today with excellent conditions for golf and the Starters received compliments from all of the 7 visiting teams, whether winner or loser,  about the fantastic state of our great Course.

LGC Div 4 took on the Korumburra Team today in a very tight affair with two matches being decided on the 19th, including the final match won by Peter Jaspers which sealed us a 4-3 win over the Korumburra Team. Other winners were Bryan McCorkell (8/7), Anthony Sparkes (5/4) and Gene Van DerZalm (1 Up) with tight loses to Ian Baker (19th hole), Ian Barlow and Mark Anderson.

We look forward to next week with all three Men’s Division teams playing.
