Stableford – Last Day of Summer – February 28

We welcomed the “Box Hill Crew” to Leongatha today.  Box Hill captain Chris McLeod thanked Leongatha Golf Club for our hospitality and praised the excellent condition of our golf course.

83 players entered today’s competition with Box Hill member Ernie Bersey blitzing the field with 40 points.

The best shot of the day was Marilyn William’s second shot on the 3rd that ran into the hole for a great eagle.

Allan Edney 4BBB Par

Today’s event was won by Keith Finney and Mick Oliver with a superb +11 to be the top qualifiers for the prestigious A.E. Edney 4BBB par board event.

Other qualifiers were;

Ian Murchie and Allan Schache +8

Phillippe du Plessis and Frank Gill +7

John Moor and Rob Martin +6 on a countback

A separate Stableford competition was held for those who couldn’t “Grab a Lefty”.  Ken Smirk starred with a beautiful 41 points

 

 

Tuesday 21 February – Stableford

62 players enjoyed the course in perfect condition after the weekend’s heavy downpours.

Tony Roberts starred with an impressive 41 points to win today’s competition.   Leroy Sharrock was the best of the A graders with 38 points, with a little more practice he will be a handy player.  John Simon took out B grade with a solid 36 points.  Congratulations to the winners.

Friday, February 17 – South Gippsland Classic – 4BBB Stableford

A full field of 256 players enjoyed perfect conditions at the Leongatha Golf Course on Friday as part of the South Gippsland Classic.  The Course was in amazing condition and the 30 volunteers helped make the day run smoothly both inside the Club house and around the Course.

The the winning scores for the 4BBB stableford event were;

A grade:  Women – Shirley Welsford and Colleen Touzel

A grade: Men – Robert Coleman and Barry Noble

B grade:  Women – Glennis Day and Marianne Leaver

B grade: Men – Tony Ciavarella and Geoff Alborough

Highlight of the Event was an eagle two on the par 4 fifth hole by 86 year old Ken Morris of Yarram Golf Club and a handy 6 stableford points. Ken was riding on air for the rest of the day.

 

Saturday 18th of February Stableford

Sixty six players enjoyed variable weather with the course in excellent condition. The overall winner and winner of A grade was Geoff McDonald with 39 points. Peter Hartigan won B grade on count back from Frank Gill with 38 points and Bryan Roylance won C grade with 37 points.

Saturday Women’s Stableford 18/02/2017

Thirteen  women played in quite wintery conditions. Dot Stubbs had the best round of the day. Helen Fraser played a wonderful shot to within 30cms of the 14th pin; unfortunately NTP comp on saturday is on the 16th.

Yesterday, at the Sth Gippsland 4 ball, held at our Club there were some outstanding results by LGC women. Shirley Welsford/ Colleen Touzel won A Grade with 47 points from Dot Stubbs ? Anne Newman who had 46 points. B Grade was won by Marianne Leaver? Glenys Day with 44 points from Toni & Pat West 43 points.
