In ideal conditions for golf, after a closely-fought match it was David Forbes (14) who emerged victorious over Doug Clemann (12) in the final of the 2015 Hyland Cup which was played today.
Doug worked his way to 2 up at one stage of teh match, but David fought back and won the match on the 18th hole. Congratulations to David on his first win in this event, and commiserations to Doug who has won the event several times before. The match was played in great spirit and with good sportsmanship and was a reflection of the character of both players.

28 trainee golf professionals from around Victoria took part in the 2nd running of the Leongatha Trainee Pro-Am on Monday 21st September.Players were greeted with sunny conditions for the 10am start but come day’s end, the wind was up, the temperature down and a steady drizzle was coming in.
72 from Flinders trainee Josh Shaw was a great score to take home the winner’s cheque in trying conditions. He finished one clear of 3 others on the day. A special mention goes out to Luke Bleumink who aced the 137 metre 14th hole.

For the teams event, Josh Shaw’s visiting group from Flinders Golf Club of Gryff Shaw, Steve Alexander and Jordy Durso took the honours with a stableford score of 82 points. The individual amateur winner was Bob Prowse on 35 points in a count back from John Moor.
A special thank you to volunteers who assisted with scoring, catering and bar duties on the day. All players were very complimentary of the event and in particular the condition of the golf course.

Congratulations to Tom, Dan, Marcus and Davern on winning today’s event. They now move on to the regional final to be played at Sandhurst Club on Wednesday 7th October. Good luck in that event guys!
With a little over 4 weeks before the final and the Course drying, we are starting to see more big scores coming in. Dylan Clark was the big mover this week improving his best Top Gun score by 9 points to equal leader on 41 points with Geoff Maher.
A number of other great scores were recorded since the last Update but unfortunately those players have not yet signed up. It’s never too late so get in quick.
I might have been “pop gun” last year but I’m right in the firing line to drop out of this year’s final if I don’t improve on my 34 points. See you on the Course.
