INVY ESPY HOTEL 2019 SUPER LEAGUE Rnd 5

Invy Espy Hotel round 5 Super League Results

Once again with some close scores and even another tied match, the race for the top four spots with two rounds to go isn’t over yet.

Not one of the top six teams is set in place, and  last year, position six came flying out of the box and moved up to mid top four to qualify for the finals. So give it your best and one never knows where one may end up.

Sad news for teams Koalas and my team Echidnas the season is over.

The Round five (5)  ‘ROD BROWN’ B & F Winner …was Gary McGrath with a fine 38 points just piping out Ian Barlow with 37 points.

Men’s Pennant – Round 4 wrap – April 7

Three great results for our three pennant teams today.

Division 1 got their season rolling with a 4 matches to 3 win against ladder leaders  Lang Lang.  In an exciting finale to the day’s battle Leroy Sharrock went down the 19th hole with the teams locked at 3 matches all.  Nursing a crook back but still cool as a cucumber Leroy made a par to remember on the first to give Leongatha victory a red hot chance to make the season final.  A special call out to new member Dean Kellett pulled on the Leongatha shirt for the first time.  Welcome aboard Dean.

Division 3 held their spot on top of the ladder with an exciting 4/3 victory over the strong Woorayl team.  Gordon Morrison played his first match in many years and bolted home with an impressive 7/6 win.  Garry Rotteveel and Chris Indian were unlucky to lose on the 20th and 19th holes respectively so, all in all, it was a very strong performance by the team.

Division 5 made it 4 wins after 4 rounds with a 4/3 win.  With two rounds still to go the Division 5 team have now booked a place in this year’s final.  Tim McCarthy won a tight match on the 18th and is now the only player from all three teams to have won his match every week.  Andy Bassett was solid when the pressure was on to also secure victory on the 18th whilst the Blencowes both starred with Scott winning 7/5 and Ian coming back to the clubhouse after 15 holes with a convincing 4/3 win.

Men’s Pennant – March 31 – Round 3

Division 1 had another bye this week.  Their season proper will swing into action next Sunday when they will start a run of three consecutive matches in a strange old season.   Hopefully the team fires up and books a place in this year’s final with a few good wins.

Division 3 had an excellent win against ladder leaders Lang Lang.  By virtue of their 6 matches to 1 victory they have now taken top spot on the ladder.  Captain Chris Indian and hard-nosed matchplay exponent Bryan McCorkell  both won their 3rd consecutive match to help their team notch up their second win of the year.

Division 5 are starring.  Another win today sees them undefeated after three rounds and clear ladder leaders.  A special appearance by Mick Oliver resulting in a comprehensive 7/6 victory helped the team to victory.  Stand-in captain Garry Rotteveel has the team firing and looking good to reach this year’s final at this stage.
