Well done to a visiting junior Harry Adams on taking out today’s Stableford Competition.
A large field, good weather and good golf saw out the end of 2016 at Leongatha Golf Club. Russell Williams again came out blazing with another great round of 41 to win A Grade and best score of the day. Santa brought him something special this year as that’s two wins in three days.
Stuart Harry won the Par 3 Challenge with a score of 12 points, a great result considering he only recently converted from LH to RH golf.
And a nice eagle on the 3rd for Tom Sorrell also today, a hole with run made for big hitting players, so I will be expecting to see a few more on this hole in the new year.
Just a reminder to all players that we now have measuring tapes on the 14th and 16th flag sticks. If you are in the the hunt for a nearest the pin on either hole please follow the instructions on the metal NTP holder on that green.
In short; Place the NTP marker on the green where your ball has landed. Your Marker ticks the NTP Box on the top right of your score card and then you measure the distance and record the distance next to the NTP Box on your card. It is not necessary to leave any details at the Green. All recording is now done on your score card. If you or your marker don’t record the NTP on your card, then it didn’t happen. Please help us by following the new NTP Instructions.

Most importantly, have a safe and happy new year.
Andy Bassett
Men’s Captain.
We started in calm humid conditions which turned very hot and clammy before the afternoon thunderstorms cleared the air with heavy down pours and lightning. Play was suspended for a short time and the greens recovered wonderfully thanks to the recent corings. How the weather changed today for the good field of 89. The scoring was again hot with the best score being 40 points and shared by three players although Russell Williams nailed the best round on countback.

93 golfers enjoyed a post Christmas round. Welcome to all our visitors and our non-resident members, we hope you enjoy a few good rounds over the summer holiday period.
Allan Schache obviously looked after himself over the festive season and returned a great score of 41 points to knock off a couple of unlucky players on a countback.
Tim Shackleton and Ross Evans nailed the 14th and 16th respectively to win the NTPs.

On a fine day which just got hotter, a good field took to the Course and carved it up. It’s terrific to see all the holiday makers down here today including both members and visitors, like the Koonwarra Cricket Club who did their best and came away with a great one day total.
The best score today was 41 points which reflects how well this course has recovered from last year’s de-thatching and this year’s coring, not to mention the on going irrigation work. The overall winner on countback with a score of 41 was Stuart Harry who nudged out both Craig Hams and Brock Fennell for the best score of the day.
Stuart also cleaned up the Par 3 competition with a total of 12 points over the four Par three holes.
The Men’s Committee wish you all a safe and Merry Christmas and a happy New Year, and remember not to leave your best driving on the Golf Course. We want you all back at Leongatha Golf Club next year.

Thanks again to our sponsors for today’s event – Ross McRobert, Tony Gedye & Bill Howson.
This was a great fun day trialling a new format that incorporated 5 “second serves” for the golfers. Needless to say, scoring was hot!
The day started with a bang (of thunder and rain) but ended in bright sunshine and stiff breezes, but it didn’t deter a good field of 61 today . The Course is in prime condition despite the irrigation work which is continuing with little inconvenience to play. The best score today was 38 and the best round was decided on count back going to John Moor by a whisker over an unlucky Geoff McDonald.
