Men’s Pennant Wrap – Round 5 – April 14

Division 1 lost 5/2 today meaning they face a must-win match in Round 6 to make this year’s final. The team was on the wrong of 4 matches that were decided on the 18th hole. Dead stiff.

Division 3 lost 4/3 against their likely final opponents Lang Lang. A solid showing in Round 6 should see them through to the final. Newcomer Dean Kellett won his first pennant match for Leongatha.

Division 5 extended their unbeaten run to 5 matches thanks to an extraordinary win by stalwart Andy Bassett on the 22nd hole. Putting for a half on the 19th Andy’s ball sat stubbornly on the edge of the hole. As he stepped forward to congratulate his opponent a gust of wind blew it in. A curly putt on the 20th rolled backwards for a half. Bang bang nailed the 22nd hole to bring the team home.
