Monday night – 5 hole golf

The 5 hole concept on a Monday night is proving to be a popular event.  The Fennessy sausages are gaining a strong following and the ideal weather conditions have helped a little bit too.

The Jason Day Team won the night on a countback from a couple of unlucky groups.  Congratulations to Beau Elkin, his father Rod and teammates Lynda Bassett and Nan Meagher.

Beau (our 7 year old star) also had the best score of the night with a nett score of 13.

Lesley Renwick was the best of the female participants and won the women’s competition with nett 19.

George Misson got lucky when Beau drew his name for the Mystery Draw.  Congratulations George.

Monday 5 hole Golf resumes in two weeks (November 27).  Members and non-members are welcome to join the growing movement and enjoy a Fennessy two-snag treat.

Good golfing

Final Field for BJS Insurance Top Gun Shootout.

Today (Thursday 9/11/2017) was the final day of qualifying for the BJS Insurance Top Gun Shootout.  President Peter Waters made par today and with 36 points, pushed his way into the Shootout, relegating Matt Bowey down to 1st Reserve.

The Shootout starts at 09.00 am sharp on Sunday  morning, th12th Nov  and all finalist will need to check in by 08.30 am.  You will also need to bring 3 balls each clearly marked with your ranking number as listed below (ie from 1-19).  Bring plenty of water.

First 9 holes usually takes about 3-3.5 hrs, then a break for a BBQ lunch before the final 9.

A Calcutta Auction was run today by Auctioneer Rohan Mc Crae and plenty of spiritied bidding made Chris Leaver the best backed favourite to take out the title of Top Gun, edging out Jon Smith and Doug Clemann.  I guess Sunday will sort the field out.  Good luck to all 19 Shootout finalists.

Visitors, friends and spectators most welcome.

Monday – 5 Hole Social Golf League

The Club’s newest innovation, 5 hole social golf league, kicked off today with 42 players.  Aiming to attract juniors and newcomers to golf the first night of this event was a great success.

7 year old Beau Elvin was the story of the night scoring 26 for 5 holes giving him the night’s best nett score of 15.  Young Jack Aeschlimann had an impressive 30 off the stick, nett 21.  We have got a couple of keen young boys with very promising golf careers in the making.

The team of Jan Bissett, Marion Chalmers, Alan Briggs and Karen Brigs with nett 60 won the team event.  Marion proving to us all the golf is a game for life.

The individual best nett scores were won by Karen Briggs and Ken McKenzie, with Geoff Trease winning the day for the newcomers.

Cheryl Borg scored her first ever par on the tough 15th to win the prize for the best hole of the night.

Thanks to all who came along and we hope to see you all here again next Monday.
