Men’s Pennant Results – Sunday 1st May 2016
On a day more suited to indoor activities our 3 pennant teams slugged it out in tough going today. Strong, gusty winds and frequent rain squalls made it difficult to play good golf. However like the saying goes, when the going gets tough the tough get going and all 3 teams won their matches.
Div 2 played Phillip Island at Lang Lang, and won 6-1. With the final Div 2 round to be played at Leongatha on the 15th and our team having a bye, our Div 2 cannot improve on their 3-1 record but have almost certainly already secured a finals berth. Well done guys!
Div 3 played Lang Lang at Phillip Island and also won 6-1. Despite another round still to be played, by my reckoning their 5-1 match record means that they have also stitched up a gig in the final.
The Div 4 match against Phillip Island at Aussie Golf Ranch was a much closer affair, with our boys winning 4-3 after one of our fill-ins, Ian Murchie sealed the victory on the 19th! The win gives the team a 4-2 match record and keeps them in the running for a finals berth. However they will still need to win their final round match to have a chance.
Next Sunday is Mother’s Day so pennant takes a breather. The final rounds for Divs 3 & 4 will be played on the 15th and the final on the 22nd.
