Men’s Club Championships – Round 2

On another perfect day for golf, Round 2 of the Club Championship saw plenty of movement on the leaderboard.

The Club Championship looks to be a race in two with Chris Leaver pegging back two shots today on leader Tom Sorrell.  Tom’s two round score of 156 is one ahead of Chris.  They tee off at 9:24 next Saturday and should be striding down the 18th a little after 1 pm.  A nice gallery around the 18th green to see them home would be great so come along and have a look.

B grade saw Bruce Hutton extend his lead to 5 with Brendan Simon now leading the chasing pack.

C grade – As the AFL commentators say,  you could throw a blanket over the leading 15 or so contenders.  Geoff Maher and Patrick Bowd are equal leaders but the Captain is reading up on the play off rules with a tight finish assured.

D grade has the steady Peter Hobson holding a handy lead over Ian Watson but with a few of the chasing pack capable of producing a top notch round Peter will need to be at his best again next week.

The Senior Championship is for all players over 60 years old.  Defending champion Chris Leaver is chasing grander honours and is odds on to demolish the rest of the oldies next week.

The Junior Championship is open to all players under 21 years old. Ryan Thomas has a massive lead and is showing no mercy on his big brother.

The R.E. Cameron Trophy is presented to the player with the best net score over the 3 rounds of the Club Championship.  Ian Watson has jumped into the lead with rounds of 69 and 75.  Go Watto, keep up the good form.

Men’s Club Championships – Round 1

On a perfect day for golf 103 members competed in the first round of today’s Men’s Club Championships.

The best score of the day was Michael Thomas’s 76, with  Tom Sorrell just one behind on 77.   Mick is reportedly a non-starter for Round 2 so Tom is taking a handy 3 shot lead into Round 2 with Chris Leaver on 80 looking to chase him down.

B grade sees a couple of seasoned performers showing everyone how it’s done.  Bruce Hutton with 82 leads Doug Clemann on 84

C grade – Nick Shaw’s 91 has him 4 shots ahead of Patrick Bowd and David Vorwerg and a couple of capable golfers not far behind.

D grade leader Stuart Harry with 99 holds a slender lead over Lachie Thomas, Peter Hobson and Scotty Blencowe.  It’s game on for the honours in D grade.
