A fine winter’s day greeted the 41-strong field who contested today’s stableford competition. Mark Warby handled the conditions best to take A-grade and overall honours to win with 36 points. A strong back nine holes gave Ian Barlow a win on a countback in B-grade with 34 points.

A good field including a number of visitors competed in some welcome winter sunshine for today’s honours in a 4BBB Stableford event. The form golfer of the moment, Wayne Keen partnered beautifully with Greg Ellt (fresh back from Vietnam) to win with 41 points on a countback from Bob Pritchard and Hugh Goodman; also on 41 points.
There were 27 players . A grade winner was Liz Hodge with 37 points. B grade winner was Sue Woods with 38 points. 2019 Mudrunner winner was Dot Stubbs with a total of 71 points. Fran O’Brien had the best 9 with 23 points.

A field of 33 players contested the second round of the Wormburners Medal, with Doug Clemman finding the windy conditions to his liking to score an impressive 38 points & take out A-grade. Kevin Michael played well to win B-grade with 35 points. For the 2-round Wormburners competition, first round leader, Wayne Keen maintained his strong form to shoot 36 points today and take out the Medal with an overall score of 77 points from Ken Smirk on 72 points in second place.

Phil Douglass had the score of the day with a +3. Grade winners were John McInnes and Scotty Blencowe both returning +2’s. Karen Bear was the best of the women with a -6. Congratulations to Rod Hopcraft (proudly pictured below) for holing out on the 14th for his first hole in one!

Today we held the annual Brian Twite Bowl. 51 players attended from district, Latrobe Valley and metropolitan clubs. Our sponsor today was Leongatha Fresh Meat and Fish Supplies Rod & Judi Spokes. Thank you to Rod & Judi once again for your generous sponsorship. Once again Brian Twite attended to present the Rose Bowl to the winning team. Fine weather was enjoyed, but the course heavy, as indicated by the scores. The Bowl winners were the Woorayl team, consisting of Elly Berryman (29 points), Ann Poole (28 points) and Jo Fennell (31 points) with a team total of 88 points. The grade winners were A Grade – Wendy Parker with 30 points, B Grade – Ann Poole with 28 points on c/b and C Grade – Jo Fennell with 31 points on c/b. Once again thank you to Rod & Judi and Brian for the day.
A good field of 49 players relished the dry conditions for a very pleasant day at Leongatha. Keith Finney continued his excellent recent form to take out today’s honours; winning both the comp and B-grade with 36 points on a countback from A-grade winner, Norm Hughes; also with 36 points. A good round from Brian Hennessy saw him win C-grade with 35 points.
